a mid-Somers night sail

Kate & Brandon are getting hitched August 1st!

08 / 01/ 2020

Due to COVID-19, we have decided to switch to a small ceremony followed by a backyard party for local family and close friends. We wish we could celebrate with everyone but we wish for your safety and health more! While it might not be the big wedding we planned, it will be big in love knowing all of you could have been here if you could.

Well... It’s still happening, you guys!

6 years, 2 boats, 1 scruffy dog, and countless #PersistenceAdventures later, it's time to take the next adventure: marriage. So, we can't wait to celebrate being each other's favorite person in front of the rest of our favorite people whether in person or not.

Please join us on August 1st , a mid-"somers" night, either in person or for a “zoom toast” later in the evening.

What we want most for our wedding is to have all of our friends & family to celebrate the occasion with us.

& Zoom

We hope to say “I Do” as close to the water as possible but just going to do that with our parents.

We then will have a back yard soirée with those local friends and family who would like to join us. We will have a served raw bar, many passed appetizers, an open bar, and of course, cake!

Our goal is make guests fell comfortable and safe to attend through social distancing, sanitation procedures, and common sense. We ask that if you are not feeling well, that you stay home and while in attendance refrain from hugs and handshakes. We want to make sure everyone continues to stay healthy.

For those who can’t physically be here, we will have a toast over Zoom around 7pm. Details to follow here.

Bridesmaids & Groomsmen

A semiformal wedding may have one to six attendants, with the option of a ring bearer and flower girl. An informal wedding will often have a best man, maid or matron of honor, one or two groomsmen and bridesmaids, and no flower girls or ring bearers. But traditions are meant to be broken!

Morgan Everson

Best Person and Officiant

Kate's longtime friend introduced Brandon and Kate one afternoon while sailing around Narragansett Bay. It would be a few years before that transformed into something more. She worked with Brandon at Jamestown Boat Yard when she moved first moved to Newport a few years after graduating college with Kate.

Scruffy

Rings Bearer

Scruffy spent his first 5 years living in California with Kate's grandparents and fell in love with Kate while she was working there during the America's Cup in 2013. Less than a year later, he was headed East to rejoin Kate and meet Brandon to make a new home.

Looking forward to celebrating with you.

However that may be!

Help us sail away!

We also plan on cruising for our honeymoon onboard Persistence to Maine and we are looking for a new main sail. Helping us make that possible would be a great gift! Visit our HoneyFund if you would like to contribute.

As many of you know, we also bought a home in October and building our other happy place.
